Velma Marie (Wadkins) Finney
Helena, OK. -- The funeral for Velma Marie Finney, 94, who died Thursday at Helena Care Center, will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Helena Christian Church. The Rev. Glen Rockwell will officiate. Burial will be in Good Hope Cemetery under the direction of Kenny Lanman Funeral Home.
She was born Dec. 19, 1895, in Anthony, Kansas, to Jim and Elizabeth Wadkins and moved with the family to Helena at an early age. She graduated from Helena High School and Phillips University, and taught school for a number of years. On Oct. 19, 1919, she married C. A. Finney. They lived and farmed in Helena. After retirement they lived on Lake Tenkiller. She was a member of Helena Christian Church where she taught Sunday School classes and was a member of American Legion Auxiliary, past matron of Order of the Eastern Star and other club and civic organizations.
Surviving are one son, Robert Sprague of Helena; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one daughter, two sisters, one brother and her husband in 1982.
Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Order of Eastern Star or to the charity of the donor's choice.
