Rhonda Fay Kight of Austin, Texas, formerly of Cherokee, Oklahoma, passed away March 27, 2026.

Rhonda was born to Billy Young Sr. and Caroline (Tuxhorn) Germany on July 8, 1955 in Cherokee, Oklahoma.

Rhonda married Phil Kight on December 29, 1980. Later Rhonda and Phil adopted their daughter, Amy on March 2, 1988, and a year later their son, Josh on August 28, 1989. Throughout her life Rhonda lived in many places including Austin, Texas and Sherman, Texas, where they learned about adoption, they missed Austin so much that they moved back there until 2008 when they moved to Cherokee.

Rhonda earned her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Bartlesville Wesleyan University. This led to her career in teaching and ultimately owning her own daycare.

In June of 2018 Rhonda got to go on a trip of a lifetime taking a cruise to Canada and Alaska, visiting Vancouver Island and Victoria British Columbia.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Billy Young Sr and Caroline Germany; father and mother in-law, Jessie and Mary Kight; brother, little Larry Young and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is survived by her husband, Phil; daughter, Amy; son, Josh; sister, Sheila Ann Young; brother, Bill Young, Jr. and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. Grandsons; Jaquell, Avery, Joshua, and Joziah, and one granddaughter, Ezaira.

Funeral Service will be Monday, April 6, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Riverside Church of Christ in Burlington, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc. Website: www.lanmanfuneralhome.com

Memorials may be made to Riverside Church of Christ or a charity of choice through the funeral home.
