Crystal Lee Hayes ,59, of Cherokee, passed away on
February 21, 2026, just days before her 60th birthday.
Crystal was born on February 27,1966, in Enid, Oklahoma. She spent her life rooted in the community she loved. Crystal had a big heart, especially for animals, and her world revolved around the simple joys of home, loyalty, and companionship.
She is survived by her longtime roommate and companion, Mark McDonald, of Cherokee, Oklahoma; her ex-husband, Jesse Cryer of Scottsboro; her beloved dogs Lola, Colt, Popcorn, Mia, Lacy, and Oscar; and her loving chickens; and many dear friends she considered family.
Crystal was preceded in death by her mother and father, Judy and Gabby Hays both of Cherokee, Oklahoma, her brother, Jason Hays and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Cherokee Municipal Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life. Arrangements are by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc. of Cherokee. Facebook: Lanman Funeral Home Inc. Website: www.lanmanfuneralhome.com.
