Phyllis "Sharon" (Okerson) Wood

On Friday, September 21, 2018, Phyllis Sharon Wood went to be with her Lord and Savior at the age of 74. She was born on December 29, 1943 at Avant, Oklahoma. She was the fourth born of five kids.
 

She met and married the love of her life, Wendell, after high school. They had two children, Wendy and Darin. She enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family with all her heart, but she thought her great-grandkids hung the moon, stars and put simply “could do no wrong”.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Westville. She loved her church family and could often be found taking care of the babies.


Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Lester, mother, Ruth and sister, Barbara.


She is survived by her husband, Wendell Wood, of the home, one daughter, Wendy Hampton and husband Wade of Westville, one son, Darin Wood of Westville, five grandkids, Keina Reed and husband Brett of Westville, Krysti Teague and husband Wesley of Westville, Kenzie Crites and husband Coby of Westville, Amber Sidebottom and husband Casey of Lincoln, Ark., Chad Wood of Westville, nine great-grandchildren: Rayleigh Reed, Kase Reed, Layni Teague, Kooper Teague, Karli Teague, MacKenna Crites, Nathan Crites, Jaxon Sidebottom and Aubree Sidebottom, three siblings: George Okerson of Skiatook, Linda Wood and husband Wayne of Avant, Don Okerson and wife Donna of Avant, plus a multitude of nieces and nephews.


Funeral services were held September 25, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Westville, with Bro. Justin Heck officiating.

Interment followed at Westville City Cemetery, Westville, under the direction of Roberts & Hart Funeral Home, Westville.
