Dean P. Guthrie, son of George B. and Josie (Sherfield) Guthrie, was born on October 1, 1932 in Boxley, Arkansas and departed this life on January 12, 2011 in Springdale, Arkansas at the age of 78 years, 3 months and 11 days.
Dean married Corinne Eads on July 12, 1952 and they were blessed with 3 daughters. He was a loving husband, father and friend. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed the time spent with them. Dean was a contractor by profession. He was well known and liked in the Westville Community. His friends, family and all who knew him will always remember his kindness and strength of character.
He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Josie Guthrie, sisters: Stella Bird and Ella Guthrie, brothers: Homer Guthrie, Vic Guthrie, Raymond Guthrie, Ralph Guthrie and Carl Guthrie.
Dean is survived by a very loving family that includes his wife: Corinne Guthrie of the home in Westville, OK, daughters: Diane Chapman and husband Mike of Grove, OK, Debbie Swaim and husband John of Grove, OK, Dawn Rector and husband Bryan of Westville, OK, sisters: Myrtle Kindle and husband Walter of Westville, OK, Frankie Williams and husband Forrest of Westville, OK, five grandchildren: Briana Thurman and husband Gerald, Jr. of Westville, OK, Guthrie Chapman of Springdale, AR, Cole Rector of Okmulgee, OK, Erika Rector of Westville, OK, Lauren Rector of Westville, OK, two great grandchildren: Laran Pharr and Laynee Thurman of Westville, OK. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Roberts Funeral Chapel with Pastor Warren Foxworthy and Bro. Audie Vaughan officiating. Interment followed at Westville City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts Funeral Home.
