Roy Lee Tidwell, the son of Millard Tidwell and Josephine (Cornsilk) Moreland, was born June 14, 1947 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life on January 28, 2020 in Muskogee, Oklahoma at the age of 72 years, 7 months and 14 days.

Roy enjoyed life and loved his family. He grew up in Peavine with a large family of brothers and one sister. He served his country in the U.S. Army as a wireman where he received a Purple Heart and the distinction of sharpshooter. He enjoyed keeping up with the military culture throughout the years. Upon his return, he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Art from Northeastern State University. He then worked for Cherokee Nation for over 25 years. He loved working as a counselor with his tribe because it allowed him to give back to his community. Roy loved cars and he enjoyed working on hot rods. In his free time he enjoyed watching TV shows about cars, learning about coin collecting, and watching shows about art, history, and travel. Roy touched many lives over the years and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Mary Tidwell; and his brothers Bob Tidwell, Jess Tidwell, and Bill Tidwell.

He is survived by a loving family which includes his children Jason Tidwell of Stilwell and Devon Isaacs and husband Daniel of Logan, Utah; his sister Betty Mabray and husband Don of Muldrow; his brothers Jack Tidwell and wife Linda of Stilwell, Harvey Moreland and wife Diane of Evansville, and Carl Moreland of Stilwell, and a special half-sister Mary Tidwell of Stilwell; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Several nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive him. He had a number of special friends that shared his love of cars.
