Corena Jane Workman Thomas, a devoted daughter, loving wife, nuturing mother, treasured grandmother and great-great grandmother.

She was born to Robert Lee workman and Nannie Eller Collins on June 9, 1918 in Evansville, Arkanasas.
Corena married Bob L. Thomas June 1, 1934 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She raised 2 wonderful sons and 1 loving daughter. She raised her family in the Bell community and worked in the school system where she was a cook and dietician.

She and her husband were proud business owners for many years in Stilwell, contributing to the growth and development of the city.

Corena will be remembered by all who knew her as a loving, caring and giving person. She took care of "her people" all her life. She was feisty, funny and always available to comfort and support her loved ones, she loved to cook, and she was a great cook. She enjoyed teaching her family all her recipes. Corena especially liked to make fried pies for her favorite people and deliver them warm from the oven in her signature black iron kettle. It made her happy to cook for others. Not only was she a great cook but also a fabulous quilter and seamstress. She obtained many awards for her hand embroidered tapestery's and hand sewn quilts and pillows.
She was preceded in death by her husband; Bob L. Thomas, 1 son; Howard Lee Thomas, parents; Robert and Nannie Workman, 2 sisters; Pearl Vanderheiden and Mildred Guinn, 3 brothers; James, Robert and Thomas Workman, 2 grandsons; Randy Wayne Warner and Roy Lee Thomas.
She is survived by a very loving family that includes 1 daughter; Marie Warner, 1 son; Jimmy Thomas and wife Sondra, 1 special nephew; Harold Guinn, 5 grandchildren; Michael Thomas and wife Robin, Steven Thomas and wife Karen, Carla Boring and husband David, Kayla Phelps and husband Michael and Howard Lee Thomas Jr., 9 great-grandchildren; Andrea, Kelly, Allen, Bobby, Jennifer, Stephanie, Courtnery, Robert and Russell, 5 great great-grandchildren; Hunter Grace, Jude Michael, Logan Patrick, Rylon Jacob and Addison, other relatives and many friends also survive her.
Our family would like to express our sincere and heartfelt appreciation for our friends at the Stilwell Nursing Home, Stilwell Memorial Hospital and Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral home for their guidance and compassion during our journey.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. in the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Bro. Roger Haney officiating.

Interment followed in the Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
