Floreine White-Kanis, daughter of George W. and Nancy Ann (Duncan) White, was born on October 12, 1914 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at Cookson, Oklahoma at the age of 99 years, 1 month and 28 days.
She met her husband Wilbur in Yucca Valley, California, where they lived and worked at Mentalphysics (a spiritual retreat) for 32 years, before retiring to Cookson, Oklahoma. Many family members have special memories of their time spent with her and Wilbur at Mentalphysics and in the desert at Yucca Valley. Joshua tree was one of her favorite places to visit. Wilbur and Floreine enjoyed traveling and visited almost every National Park on their journeys. They often left home on vacation not knowing where they were going and making decisions on which way to turn while on their way. She loved jokes – whether she was telling one or being told one. She will be fondly remembered by all of her family and friends.
Preceding her in death was her husband: Wilbur Otto Kanis, parents: George and Nancy White, son: Clifford Don Neff, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
Floreine is survived by her grandsons: Jim and wife Toni Neff of Reno, NV, John Neff of San Diego, CA, granddaughter: Abbie Neff, sister: Lolita Morelli of Erie, CO, niece: Dixie Jo Jackson, nephew: Gary White, both of Oklahoma, 2 great grandsons, one great granddaughter and one great great granddaughter.
Funeral services were held at 10 am on Friday, December 20, 2013 at Roberts/Reed-Culver Chapel with Bro. Larry Eubanks officiating. Interment followed at Stilwell City Cemetery.
