Katie Sue (Ketcher) Hummingbird, aged 78, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at WW Hastings Hospital in Tahlequah, OK. Best known by her middle name, Sue was born on January 30, 1943, the fifth of eight children of Noah Ketcher and Tempie (Dice) Ketcher of Stilwell, Oklahoma. Sue attended and graduated from Stilwell High School where she met the love of her life Jimmy (Nick) Hummingbird. The pair was married on April 12, 1961, and soon began raising a family.

The Hummingbird family moved to Cherokee, North Carolina in 1973 where Sue worked as a bank teller then as a secretary at Cherokee High School. The family returned to Oklahoma in 1984 where Sue began working at the Bank of Commerce in Stilwell before retiring after twenty-five years of service.

In addition to spending time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family, Sue had a passion for sewing and quilting. Christmas, birthdays, and new additions to the family were occasions for Sue to craft her latest beautiful creation. Sue enjoyed spending time with her quilting friends in Stillwell, quilting for charities and people in the community, with some of her handiworks being featured in newspapers and quilting publications.
