Ruby Hatfield was born December 30, 1919, in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She departed this life on May 18, 2013, at the age of 93.
She was a life long resident of Stilwell. She graduated from Cave Springs High School in 1937. She worked for Dr. C. W. Mehegan for several years. She later received her BS and Masters Degree from Northeastern State College in 1963. She taught English and Spanish at Stilwell Junior High for 18 years and retired in 1981. She was actively involved in the Stilwell Hospital Auxiliary. She was a member of Stilwell Church of Christ since 1940.
In January of 2005, she went to Go Ye Village in Tahlequah and remained there until her death. In the early 80’s, she and her husband invested in the facility and had planned to move there when they became unable to care for their property in Stilwell. She stayed there for a couple of months after suffering a stroke in May of 1999.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband, A.N. (Knox) Hatfield, in 1988, her parents, Robert Clay and Grace Holloway, three brothers, Cornelius, Howard and Cecil Holloway and four sisters, Mary Lee Cloud, Bonita Patterson, LaFern Smith and Reba Herron, and a great grandson, Cole Gregory Landers.
She is survived by one daughter, Frances Jean Ketcher and her husband, Bill, of Midwest City, OK and one son, Roger Clay Hatfield and his wife, Wanda, of Oklahoma City, OK, four grandchildren, Dr. Greg Alan Ketcher and his wife, Kim, of Lawton, OK, Keith Lane Ketcher and his wife, Gina Renee, of Sacramento, CA, Gina Rhea Landers and her husband, Greg, of Edmond, OK, and Tasha Nikole Privett and husband, Mike of Oklahoma City, OK. She is survived by five great grandsons, Brian Ketcher and his wife, Megan, Cody Landers, Clayton and Sam Ketcher and Jace McLeod. She is survived by three great granddaughters, Kierston Landers, Kinley Privett and Macy Landers.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Larry Gene Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
