Luther Roosevelt Hatfield
Luther Roosevelt Hatfield was born July 29, 1919, in Stilwell, Oklahoma to John Hatfield and Nettie (Etter) Hatfield and passed from this life on July 18, 2009, at Stilwell Memorial Hospital at the age of 89.
Luther married Helen Sumpter on July 15, 1941, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and this union was blessed with two daughters, Virginia and Margaret. He enjoyed gardening and worked as a farm foreman for C.J. Carson for 31 years. He was a member of the Stilwell Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen, his parents, several brothers and a sister.
Those left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Virginia Brown and husband, Bill, of Stilwell, Margaret Kilgore and husband, John, of Blythe, CA; four grandchildren, Brenda and Mike Maddan, of Tahlequah, Bill Jr. and Jeletta Brown, of Sapulpa, Kim and Mike Darland, of Phoenix, AZ and Steve Calhoun, of California and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2009, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Larry Hatfield officiating. Interment will follow at Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
