Ida Mae Guthrie, the daughter of Harry V. Claphan and Dora Belle (Burnett) Claphan, was born February 5, 1916, in Evansville, Arkansas. She passed away February 13, 2011, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma at the age of 95 years and 8 days.
Ida was married to John Guthrie and to this union two children were born, Cleburn and Linda. Ida worked for Campbell Soup Company and retired after many years of service. She then became a health care provider for the Department of Human Services, where she worked for many years.
She was a founding member of Victory Southern Baptist Church and maintained an active role in Vacation Bible School and the nursery ministry as long as her health permitted. She enjoyed quilting for her children and grandchildren.
Ida was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, three sisters and six brothers. Her surviving family includes her children, Cleburn Guthrie, of Cookson and Linda Cox, of Sallisaw, six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 17, 2011, at Stilwell City Cemetery with Bro. Charles Hummingbird officiating. Burial is under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
