June 11, 1916 - April 9, 2006
Ernestine (Stewart) Damron, was born June 11, 1916 to Leonard Anthony and Julia (Combs) Stewart, in Stilwell and departed this life April 9, 2006 in Stilwell, at the age of 89 years, 9 months and 28 days.
Ernestine married Jesse James Damron on November 18, 1941 and to this union were born three children: Julia, Roger and Shayla. She was a graduate of Berea College and Morehead State University, and she taught both Oklahoma and Kentucky.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Leonard and Julia (Combs) Stewart, her husband Jesse Damron; one sister: Emily Terry, and two brothers: Anthony Stewart and Julius Stewart.
She is survived by a loving family that includes three children: Julia Porter and husband Roy Malcolm Jr., of Laramie, Wyoming, Roger Damron and wife Kathy of Venice, Florida, and Shayla Mettille and husband John of Frankfort, Kentucky; one brother: Robert B. Stewart and wife Joann of Nacogdoches, Texas; one sister: Aberdeen Gutenberger and husband Robert of Vancouver, Washington; five grandchildren: Jennifer Precht of North Port, Florida, Michael Damron of New York City, New York, Jesse Mettille of Frankfort, Kentucky, John Mettille III of St. Louis, Missouri, and Joseph Mettille of Frankfort, Kentucky, and two great grandchildren: Mia Mettille of Frankfort, Kentucky, and Taylor Precht of North Port, Florida. Many nieces, nephews, and other relatives also survive her.
Graveside services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the Stilwell City Cemetery in Stilwell, with Bro. Paul Sagan officiating.
Interment followed under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home of Stilwell, Oklahoma.
