Fred Austin Catron, Jr.
February 29, 1932 - July 29, 2007
Fred Austin Catron, Jr. was born February 29, 1932 in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Fred Austin Catron, Sr. and Lillie (Covington) Catron.
While surrounded by his loved ones, he went home to be with his Lord on July 29, 2007 at 75 years of age.
On May 27, 1956, Fred was married to Orene Sue Gordon in Stilwell, Oklahoma. He was a Sgt. in the U.S. Air Force and served during the Korean conflict. Fred received a masters degree in education and worked as an education administer for the State of Oklahoma for over 14 years.
As a member of the First Christian Church, Fred served as an elder for many years. He was a former prinicpal of Stilwell High School, chairman of the Republican Party, and served as a board member for the Stilwell Memorial Hospital, Stilwell Utilities and the Stilwell Chamber of Commerce.
Fred had a great love for God and his family whom he loved, cared for and cherished. He had no fear of death and was eager to see his Savior. Unlike most men, he didn't hunt, fish or have hobbies because he treasured that time to be with his family.
Besides loving God and family, Fred loved his country and would fight for it in a minute if called to do so. Profanity was never heard from his lips but he gave sound advice whether you asked for it or not. Fred was an honorable, faithful husband, father and servant of the Lord to the end.
His parents, Fred and Lillie Catron and two brothers, Bob and Vesper Catron preceded him in death.
His surviving family includes his wife of 51 years, Sue Catron, of the home in Stilwell; one daughter, Lisa Hart and husband, Sam, of Tahlequah, OK; two sons, Jeff Catron and wife, Lesa, of Choctaw, OK, Dirk Catron and wife, Erin, of North Port FL; one sister, Billie Crozier and husband, Charles, of Stilwell; one brother, Dale Catron and wife, Ann, of Kansas, OK; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Catron, of Stilwell; nine grandchildren, J.B. Hart, Robert Hart, Heather Catron, Kirby Catron, Morgan Catron, Sara Catron, Noah Catron, Krystal Catron and Luke Catron.
Many relatives, friends and loved ones also survive him.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at the First Christian Church with Bro. Kevin Spurlock officiating.
Interment will follow at the Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Christian Church College Fund, 306 N. 2nd, Stilwell, OK 74960.
