James "Jim" Butler
December 30, 1925 - September 28, 2009
James Wadie Butler, age 83 years, 9 months and 2 days, passed away September 28, 2009. He was born on December 30, 1925 in Bunch, Oklahoma to John P. Butler and Elizabeth (Polk) Butler. He attended Guiding Light Church for many years.
He was a World War II Veteran. After serving his country, he made his life’s work in the food industry. Baking was his specialty – If you were lucky enough to be a child or young adult at that time, you have to remember his donuts, 15 cent hot dogs and 10 cent cokes that were made daily in his Stilwell Bakery. He retired from Stilwell Foods in 1983. “Thanks Jim” for the frozen pies and foods we enjoy today. After his retirement, he was a full time gardener / fisherman, many hours were spent fishing with his sons and grandsons.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, his sister: Johnnie Davis, son: Jimmy Harold Butler, half brother: Claude Henson and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years: Josephine Butler and stepson: Leonard Asbill of the home, three daughters: Ruby Hester, Sharon Littlejohn and Wadene Cox, two sons: Ren Butler and wife Georgia, Robert Butler and wife Daisy, one stepson: Dale Asbill and wife Debbie, grandchildren: Amanda & Jeremiah Holland, Stephanie Butler, James Littlejohn Jr. and wife Yong Cha, Rodny & Kari Littlejohn, Carla & Jeff Booker, Christopher Cox, Chad Cox, Jason & Tara Asbill, Nathan Asbill, Matthew Butler, Nan Butler, Ethan Butler, C.W. Gregory Jr. and wife Penny, Tammie Osborne and husband Terry, Linda Barnett, Joan Lousch and husband Johnnie and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2009 in the Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Chapel with Bro. Ron Ford officiating. Interment followed in Stilwell City Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
