Gladys Lucille Blankenship, daughter of Tom and Ida Bell (Jackson) Long, was born on October 15, 1920 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma and departed this life on Wednesday, May 24, 2017 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 96 years.

She was a lifelong member of the Stilwell community. Gladys was a beautician by trade. Her beauty salon was the longest running sole owner business in Stilwell. She was well liked and known. Gladys continued to work up until a short time ago when her health took a turn and kept her from working, visiting and making her rounds. She touched many lives and hearts during her time with us.

She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Stilwell. Gladys enjoyed attending services and visiting with her church family.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents: Tom and Ida Bell Long, husband: Jess Blankenship, brothers: John Long, Eugene Long, Junior Long, Tom Long, Raymond Long, sisters: Nadine Briggs and Zelma Gann.

She is survived by her son: Duane Blankenship of the home in Stilwell, nephew: Jack Guffey of Fayetteville, Ark. and niece: Judy Marlatt and husband Joe of Florence, Ariz. (who took care of her for many years), many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and a multitude of friends.

Graveside services were held Friday, May 26, 2017 at Stilwell City Cemetery with Rust Dawson officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home
