Ophelia Mae "Onnie" Polecat

Ophelia Mae Polecat was born to George and Sarah Glass Polecat on March 2, 1938 in Adair County, Oklahoma and departed this life on Saturday, February 1, 2014 in Bell, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years.

She was known as Onnie to all who loved her. All of her nieces and nephews considered her their 2nd Mom for the majority of their lives. Onnie was an excellent cook, housekeeper, seamstress and ball player. She knew how to write, count and knew her familys birthdays, even though she had no formal education. She felt it was very important to instruct the younger ones. Onnie lived with her niece and husband: Marilyn and Harry Sawney, who took excellent care of Aunt Onnie. During her latter years while she was still able, she attended Sheepshed Holiness Church in Bell.

Onnie was preceded in death by her parents: George and Sarah Polecat, step father: Cornelius Soap, Sr., sisters: Georgia Cochran, Shirley Bird, niece: Sarah Pritchett and nephew: Bobby Pritchett.

She is survived by a loving family that includes her brothers: George Polecat, Jr. and wife Frances of Stilwell, OK, Cornelius Soap, Jr. and wife Lou of Muldrow, OK, Dallas Soap of Stilwell, sisters: Mableine Still and Imogene Locust of Stilwell.

Onnie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Friday, February 7, 2014 at Roberts-Reed-Culver Chapel with Rev. George Polecat, Jr. and Rev. Dewayne O'Fields officiating.

Interment followed at Salem Cemetery, Stilwell, Ok.
