Lorene Mathews, daughter of Isaac and Carrie Neeley Locust was born January 11, 1943 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and departed this life to be with our Lord on September 25, 2014 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma at the age of 71 years, 8 months and 14 days.

She was married 52 years to the love of her life Clarence Mathews. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She enjoyed taking rides through the country during the different seasons, going out to eat, listening to music, taking care of her animals but most of enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a member of Salem Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence Mathews, 2 infant sons Tommy James and Michael Wayne Mathews, and 2 brothers Carl Locust and Leroy Locust.

Lorene is survived by a very loving family that includes her children Randy Mathews and wife Suzy of Siloam Springs, AR, Terry Mathews and wife Cheryl of Stilwell, Ok, Laverne Mathews of Stilwell, OK, Diana Mathews of Sallisaw, OK, 8 grandchildren 7 great grandchildren. 3 siblings Mary Jane Wolf of Tahlequah, OK, James Locust and wife Sharon of Stilwell, OK, Carolyn Swimmer and husband Larry of Tahlequah, OK, several other relatives and many, many friends also survive her.

Funeral services at 2 pm on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Salem Baptist Church, Stilwell, OK with Bro. Lester Campbell and Bro. Dan Ketcher officiating.

Interment followed at Salem Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
