Stanley Leroy Hummingbird was born February 20, 1936, in Stilwell, Oklahoma to Gus and Iva (Coombes) Hummingbird. He went home to be with the Lord on June 21, 2012, at his home surrounded by his loving family at the age of 76 years, four months and one day.
Stan married Virginia Ketcher in Winfield, Kansas on December 15, 1958, and their union was blessed with one son, Rick. Stan worked as a maintenance operator for Jet Stream Plastics and retired after 28 years. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, plowing with his mule, watching OU football and Cardinals baseball. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Olline Pruitt and Pauline Chuculate and an infant brother and sister.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory a loving family which includes his wife of 53 years, Virginia Hummingbird of the home; son, Rick Hummingbird, of Stilwell; three brothers, Raymond Hummingbird, of Stilwell, Ellis “Rat” Hummingbird, of Wichita, KS and Nathaniel “Sonny” Hummingbird, of Oaks. Many nieces, nephews and cousins also survive him.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Mac Crittenden and Bro. Leon Hitcher officiating.
 
Interment will follow at Reese Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
