Hattie Mae Garcia, daughter of Jackson and Ahniwake Soap, was born on February 25, 1944 in Tahlequah, Ok, and departed this life on June 15, 2016 in Tulsa, Ok at the age of 72 years. She worked at Tyson as a line worker before retiring.

Hattie enjoyed life, loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved listening to gospel music and reading in her Cherokee Bible. Hattie could be found sitting on her front porch and always had a smile on her face. She touched many lives and will be dearly missed.


She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Gloria Garcia; brothers: Carl Locust, Ute Soap and Sambo Flynn; sisters: Ancie Shell, Lela Mae Soap, Ruby Sawney, Corina Roastingear, and Helen Soap.
 

She leaves to mourn her passing: her children, Robert Sanders, Jr. Pauline Sanders; Tommy Sanders, Jerry Sanders, Melinda Coleman and husband Mike; and Bonita Garcia, all of Stilwell. Brothers: Billy Soap and wife Flora; Calvin Soap and wife Ollie; James Soap and wife, Marie; sisters: Lorene Soap, and Eliza Soap, half-brother, James Locust, grandchildren: Kyra Garcia, Talara Garcia, Hervin Garcia whom she raised as her own, Charlotte Taylor, Riverhawk Davis, Starla Sanders, Tyrone England, Timothy England, Brandon Byrd, Jerrae Sanders, Jeriah Sanders, Tesla Coleman, Brett Coleman, Jesus Salazar, Reyna Salazar, Jose Salazar, 17 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren. Many other relatives and friends also survive her. Hattie will be deeply missed.
 

Funeral services were held at 1 pm on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Roberts/Reed-Culver  Chapel, Stilwell, OK with Bro. Gary Flynn officiating.

Interment followed at Oak Ridge Cemetery, Stilwell, OK.
