Mildred Beatrice Kisor, daughter of Ray and Mamie (Snodgrass) Kester, was born on February 13, 1933 in Oakwood, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Friday, March 10, 2017 in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 84 years.

She helped support her family as a nurse. Mildred enjoyed helping others and was a friend to everyone. She loved her family and friends. Time spent with them was precious to her. Mildred found peace in gardening. She loved nurturing, tending to her garden and liked to share in the harvest.

Mildred was a talented writer and author, who wrote many books over the years. She was a member of New Testament Church and loved attending while she was able. Mildred will be deeply missed.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Ray and Mamie Kester and her brothers and sisters: Carl Kester, Josie Watkins, Ruth Watkins, John Kester, Faye Dobbs and Myrtle Poor.

Mildred leaves behind a loving family that includes her sons: Bob Barfield and wife Judy, James Barfield and Jeffrey Barfield, all of Stilwell, 11 grandchildren and a brother: Donald Ray Kester of Greenwood, Ark. Many other relatives and friends also survive her.

Graveside services to be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15, 2017 at Oak Grove Cemetery, Stilwell, with Bro. Floyd Kester, Jr. officiating. Interment to follow under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home, Stilwell.
