Edward Ward Boecher passed at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13th at the Stilwell Nursing Home with a soft sigh and a smile. The family thanks the nursing home staff and hospice for their care. His death ended his twenty-three year fight against Parkinson's. On Monday, November 2nd, a memorial service will be held at the Rustic Pearl (located off the Spade Mountain Cemetery Road to the east-northeast) . Interment of his ashes will be for family only at the family Zion Road farm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Stilwell Public Library Friends Society, 5 N. 6th Street, Stilwell, OK 74960. Donations will help build a Children's Wing for the library.

He was born October 11, 1937 in Chicago, Illinois to Gladys (Ward) Boecher and Edward Cyr Boecher. His family moved to Houston, Texas when he was an adolescent. Later in Beaumont, Texas he attended Crocket Jr. High; finished Beaumont High Class of '55 with a cadre of friends; graduated Lamar University with a B.S. in History and Economics; and received his MBA from Columbia University. His career with Mobil Oil included positions in New York, Beaumont, and Torrance, CA. His last career move was with McDermott International Inc. in New Orleans; he worked as a corporate financial analyst traveling to Lebanon, England, Scotland, Belgium, U.A.E., Venezuela, Russia, and Japan. He retired disabled after 30 years shortly before Hurricane Katrina, moving to Stilwell in 2006; he lived with his spouse and mother-in-law Maxine (Harris) Curtis on her family farm until his death.

He believed in Christ. He considered his most rewarding achievements, other than his family, to be his military service during the Cuban Missile Crisis, and his community involvement - Jr. Achievement, church treasurer, volunteer tax preparer at the library in LA., summer track coach for Jr. Olympic Program - Shot Put and Discus, playground football coach, high school track and field volunteer, and Olympic Trials' volunteer in New Orleans. He believed in the rights of American citizens and wrote to all levels of his legislators regularly. He thought retirees should oversee community council meetings – keeping councilmen honest to their constituents; his illness prevented action on the idea.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by Donna (Curtis) Boecher, spouse of 44 years, his four children, seven grandchildren, and two siblings: daughter Elizabeth (Boecher) Mancuso and husband Dan of Redbank, NJ and their children Anthony and Isabella; daughter Susan (Boecher) McConnell of Plantation, FL and her children Samantha and Logan; daughter Jennifer Boecher of Ft. Worth, TX; son Charles Edward Ward Boecher of Stilwell, OK and his children Mikaela Boecher, Brock Boecher, and Charles Douglas Boecher; sister Allison (Boecher) Pearson of Cypress Fairbanks, TX and brother Barry Boecher of Beaumont, TX.
