Walter Irvin "Luke" Hensley

Luke Hensley was born on August 25, 1939 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Friday, May 12, 2017 at his home in the Peavine Community at the age of 77 years.


He was the son of George Washington and Juanita (Pruitt) Hensley.

Luke worked hard to provide for his family. He worked for National Rockwell as a contractor for NASA. He retired from the State of Oklahoma after working many years as a highway maintenance supervisor.

His family was very important to him and he enjoyed gardening, tending to his chickens and making candy. His favorites to make were peanut clusters and peanut brittle and he loved giving it away.

Luke was a faithful member of Baron Baptist Church.
 

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita Hensley, wife, Glenna Hensley, daughter, Debra Ann Hensley, brother, Wilburn Hensley and brother-in-law, Tyrone Gerbitz.


Luke is survived by his children, Johnny Hensley and wife Rebecca, Tonya Kimble and husband Bud, grandchildren Maegan Ketcher and husband Steven, all of Stilwell, Sarah Jo Pollard and husband Mick of Siloam Springs, Ark., Jonathan Hensley of Stilwell, great grandchildren Kinnis and Koy Ketcher, sister, Sue Gerbitz, brother, Darrell Hensley, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
 

Graveside services were held Monday, May 15, 2017 at Downing Cemetery, Baron, Oklahoma ,with Brother Scott Latta officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
