Iris Juanita Gifford, daughter of Frank and Minnie (Stansill) Clinton, was born on September 26, 1922 in Piney, Oklahoma and passed from this life on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in West Siloam Springs, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years and 22 days.
Juanita attended the little rock school in Baron, Oklahoma and the school at Wright’s Chapel. When she was a little older, she worked at the canning factory in Baron. Juanita then went to work for Simmons Foods in Siloam Springs, Arkansas and started working at the Campbell Soup Company in Fayetteville, Arkansas from which she retired. She became friends with many of her coworkers over the years. Juanita loved keeping house and working in her yard raising beautiful flowers. She was always ready to share her flowers with family and friends. Juanita was an incredible seamstress and created beautiful quilts. She made numerous quilts of different patterns that she gave to her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. She loved her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and looked forward to their visits to her home. She took care of their mother during her illness, until the Lord took her home. Juanita became a resident of Quail Ridge Living Center in West Siloam Springs two years ago. She made many friends while a resident there and gave her life to the Lord. She was a loving sister – in – law, willing to share her cooking knowledge. Juanita was loved by all who met her and she always returned their love.
Her husband: Ernie Lee Gifford in 2006, parents: Frank & Minnie Clinton, brother: Frank J. Clinton and sisters: Jennie Evelyn Reed & Ollie Mae Patterson preceded her in death.
She is survived by her siblings: Henry Clinton and wife Jeannie of Cookson, OK, Jewel Christine Roberts of Westville, OK, Sue Rackleff and husband Bill of West Siloam Springs, OK, and C. J. Clinton of Cleveland, TX, nieces, nephews, other relatives and a multitude of friends.
Funeral services were held at 2 pm on Wednesday, October 23, 2013 at Roberts & Hart Chapel, Westville, OK with Rev. Joe Christie, Jr. and Pastor Jerry Wayne Christie officiating. Interment followed at Downing Cemetery, Baron, Oklahoma
