Irene Luce was born September 1, 1921, in Adair County, Oklahoma, to Chester and Fannie (Scraper) McLemore. She passed away June 19, 2013, in Andover, Kansas, at the age of 91 years, 9 months and 18 days.
Irene was married to Joseph Luce in Muskogee, Oklahoma, on September 2, 1942. This union was blessed with 3 children, Marian, Peggy and Roger.
Irene retired from Cessna Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas, where she worked many years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and crossword puzzles. Irene was proud of her Cherokee heritage.
Those preceding her in death include, her parents, Chester and Fannie McLemore, her husband, Joseph Luce, 2 sisters and 8 brothers.
She is survived by her children, Marian “Jodie” Benge and husband, Don, Peggy Prigmore and husband, Bob, Roger Luce and wife, Dana; brother, Wallace McLemore and wife, Loretta; sister, Mary Birmingham and husband, Larry; grandchildren, Tony Young, Marcine Heagwood, Galela Leckie, Crystal Hothouse, Shawna Hayes, Nicole Luce, 10 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. French McLemore officiating. Interment will follow at Clear Springs Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
