Edna LaVaughn Duncan
February 12, 1956 - December 18, 2008
Edna LaVaughn Duncan was born on February 12, 1956, to Wilson Pettit and Nellie (Owl) Pettit. She departed this life to be with the Lord on December 18, 2008.
Edna married Joe Duncan, Jr. on July 6, 1979, in Stilwell, Oklahoma. To this union two children were born, Amy Jo Duncan and Etta Jolene Duncan. She also raised Haley LaVaughn Duncan like her own. She loved her family and friends very much. She also loved her dog “Sunshine”. No matter where she was or what she was doing she had her purse, phone and water by her side. Edna liked OU items, no matter what it was and received OU memorabilia from her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Wilson and Nellie Pettit and one granddaughter, Taylor Nicole.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband of 29 years, Joe Duncan, Jr.; three daughters, Haley LaVaughn Duncan, Etta Jolene Duncan, Amy Jo Duncan and companion, Mark Augare, all of Stilwell; three sisters, Norma Steeley and husband, Johnny, of Marble City, Stella Daugherty and husband, Carlos, of Stilwell and Ladonna Pettit, of Bunch; four brothers, Donald Pettit and wife, Crystal, of Bunch, Wilson Pettit, Jr. and wife, Vicki, of Sallisaw, David Pettit and wife, Patsy, of Stilwell and Baxter Pettit, of Siloam Springs, AR. She also leaves behind a granddaughter, Gracie Jo Duncan-Augare; mother-in-law, Mary Jo Duncan, father-in-law, Joe Duncan, Sr., sister-in-law, LouAnn Duncan, brother-in-law, Jimmy Duncan and wife, Mary, all of Stilwell. She also leaves to cherish her memory several nieces, nephews and a host of friends and family.
Services were held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at Hart Memorial Chapel with George Teehee, Willis Knight and Leo Duncan officiating. Interment followed at Chulio Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home.
