Services for John Dewayne Proctor were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 18, 2002 at the Hart Memorial Chapel with Bro. Johnny Goodrich and Bro. Judge Fourkiller officiating. Interment followed at the Chuculate Cemetery under the direction of the Hart Funeral Home.
John Dewayne Proctor was born January 1, 1961, to Felix and Louella Faye Gonzales Proctor in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He died October 14, 2002, in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 41 years, 10 months and 12 days.
He worked as a general laborer, but mostly enjoyed hauling hay and cutting wood. Dewayne will be remembered as a caring and helpful person. No matter what the situation, he was willing to give a hand and wasted no time in doing it. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, finding arrowheads, spending time with his family and friends, and telling jokes, remembering old times with his dad and others, who have passed on, was always one of his favorite pastimes. He was baptized at the age of 12 at Chuculate Baptist Church.
Dewayne was preceded in death by his parents, two infant brothers; two sisters, Doris Jo Brown and Lucille Still; one nephew and two infant great nieces.
He is survived by his wife, Valarie Delaine (Sanders) Proctor of the home in Bunch; one step son, Beau Sanders, also of the home; three brothers, Robert Proctor and wife, Darlene of Weatherford, Texas, Carl Wayne Proctor and wife Rhonda of Stilwell, Oklahoma and Charles Wayne Proctor of Bunch, Oklahoma; one sister, Gail Suzette Boudeau of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; and one sister-in-law Janis Proctor of Stilwell; five nieces, six nephews, five great nieces, and four special friends: Rick Brown, Velvet Bird, Raymond Pettit and Mark Gann. A host of aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
