Alice Marie (Lee ~ Latta) Longley, age 91 of Bunch, Oklahoma went to meet her Lord on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at her residence surrounded by her family.
Alice was born on September 2, 1922 to Robert E. Lee, Sr. and Gertrude Emma (Ellis) Lee at Brint, Oklahoma in Sequoyah County.
Alice helped raise 5 brothers and sisters starting at the age of 13.
Alice Marie Lee and Edward (Edd) Raymond Latta were married on October 12, 1940 at Hungry Mountain, Oklahoma and to this union 6 children were born: Dorothy Marie (Latta) Hartman of Hominy, Oklahoma, Sudie (Latta) Center and husband Wayne of Hominy, Kathleen Gail (Latta) Carson of Stilwell, Oklahoma (deceased March 12, 2002), Robert Raymond Latta and wife Wanda of Stilwell, Michael Gary Latta and wife Sharon of Bunch, Oklahoma, Billy Joe Latta, Sr. and wife Theresa of Stilwell.
Alice married John Longley on September 3, 1971 in Harrison, Arkansas. In May of 1992 there was an article in the Stilwell Democrat Journal about Alice and John serving as foster parents for the Adair County Department of Human Services.
Alice worked for over 18 years at the Campbell Soup Company, Fayetteville, Arkansas as a USDA inspector. After retiring, they kept foster children.
Alice and John became attached to one of the children. They adopted Lonnie (Coachman) Longley of Tahlequah, Oklahoma. John preceded Alice in death July 1, 1993.
She said that she had gobs of hobbies: gardening, sewing, crocheting, going to Wal*Mart and garage sales, but mostly spending time with her family.
Alice was a member of the First Baptist Church, Bunch, Oklahoma since August 23, 1940.
Her daughter said, she could always tell how her mom’s day had been by the hymn she would be singing when they came home from school.
Most of her family called her “Mutt”, especially her dad and her siblings.
Alice is survived by those listed above and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and a multitude of friends. Her grandchildren: Richard A. Hartman, Jr., Alice Marie (Hartman) Cotton, John Hartman, Andrea Sue Center, Jeff Carson, Jada Carson, Robby Latta, Ronny Latta, Michael (Latta) Tate, Shelley Ann Parvatt, James Latta, Tammy Latta, Billy Joe Latta, Jr., Justin Latta and Teresa Lynn Caldwell (deceased).
Great grandchildren: Richard A. Hartman III, Michael D. Hartman, William C. Hartman, Christopher M. Netto, Ric Campbell, Heather Gray, Luke Campbell, Rachel Campbell, Corbin Keith Latta, Billy Joe Latta III, Arayah Hope Latta, Gracie Marie Latta, Holly Faye Latta, Tristan Tate, Paityn Tate, Hannah Leigh Caldwell, River Garner, Tiffany Latta.
Great Great Grandchildren: Jade McKinzie Caldwell, Robert Kordell and Brier Yost Hartman, Ehlaina Felicitas, Bailey Marie and Paityn Lee Hartman: Erika, Jacob, Ashley, Benjamin, Andrew, Trenton and Jerry Gray, Zahk, Elizabeth Campbell, Rylea Angel, Dylan Campbell.
Alice was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, daughter: Kathleen Gail Carson, 4 grandchildren: Teresa Lynn Caldwell, Judy Kay and Phyllis Denise Latta, Stephen Boyd Hartman and Matthew Gray infant, 5 siblings that she raised: Calvin (Jug) Leon Lee, George Theodore Lee, Walter (Jack) Lee & Robert E. (Ray) Lee, Jr. (twins), Earl (Faxey) Floyd Lee and Patsy Sue (Lee) Carter.
Funeral services at 2 pm on Wednesday, October 16, 2013 at First Baptist Church, Bunch, Oklahoma with Rev. Azle Loyd and Pastor B.J. Latta, Jr. officiating. Interment to follow at Bunch Cemetery under the direction of Roberts/Reed-Culver Funeral Home.
