Dorothy Faye Kirby Long was born June 16, 1933, in Clearfork Community of Adair County, Oklahoma to Dave “Dutch” Crockett Kirby and Bertha Alice (Frazier) Kirby. She passed from this life July 31, 2011, at her home in Stilwell, Oklahoma at the age of 78 years, 1 month and 15 days.
She graduated from the eighth grade at Hern School in Westville. On August 10, 1967, Dorothy married Nophaie James Long in Las Vegas, Nevada, who preceded her in death on October 13, 2005. Her favorite things were country and western music, crocheting, tending her flowers and spending time with family.
Dorothy retired from Simmons Industries after 20 years as a USDA inspector. She worked as a cook at Watts Hotel and Hamburger Inn in Westville. She was also co-owner of J & L Tire Shop in Stilwell with her husband, Jim.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; brothers, Troy Daniel Kirby, Johnny Edward Kirby, William Dave Kirby and an infant baby brother; sisters, Margie Luceal Kirby, Mattie Beatrice Kirby Donberg and Goldie Kirby Elmore; niece, Virginia Kirby and sisters-in-law, Georgia Kirby and Bernice Kirby.
Her surviving family includes, three brothers, Ray Kirby of Westwood, CA, who was her twin, Louie Kirby and wife, Pasty, of Evansville, AR, Kenneth “Red” Kirby and wife, Bonnie, of Stilwell; sisters-in-law, Margie Kirby, of Westwood, CA, Melba Kirby of Baron, and a former sister-in-law, Vera Kirby Johnson. Several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins and many friends also survive her.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 4, 2011, at Hart Memorial Chapel with Audie Vaughan officiating. Interment will follow at Baptist Mission Cemetery under the direction of Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.
