Jesse Louis Johnson

September 27, 1951 ~ August 27, 2019

Jesse Louis Johnson III, 68 year old Quinlan resident, passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at his home. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 1, 2019 at the Quinlan United Methodist Church with Reverend Todd Finley officiating. Burial will follow in the Union Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home in Woodward on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Jesse Louis Johnson III was born on September 27, 1951 in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Jesse Louis Jr and Judith Maxine (Venhulst) Johnson. Jesse grew up in Quinlan and attended Mooreland schools, graduating from Mooreland High School in 1969. He was a member of the Army ROTC from 1970 until 1973. He attended Panhandle State University and Northwestern Oklahoma State University and received two Bachelor degrees and his Masters degree.

He was united in marriage to the love of his life Linda Beesley in Quinlan, Oklahoma. They made their home in Quinlan and have lived there since that time. Jesse was a cowboy, worked in the oilfield, was a high school teacher for many years and a cattleman.

He was a member of the Quinlan United Methodist Church. He enjoyed raising cattle, reading, college football, especially OU football, and horse racing. Jesse was a member of the FFA, Leadership Woodward, and the Oklahoma Cattlemens Association. Jesse loved many things but mostly he loved ranch management, OU sports, being with his children John and Adrianne, his wife Linda, and being with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife Linda Johnson of the home; Jesses children: John Wesley Johnson and wife Sarah of Ardmore; Adrianne Ilo Johnson and Sheena Argarwal of Berkeley, California; Lindas children: Julie Broemmer of Davenport, Iowa, Kevin Charmasson of Woodward; grandchildren: Larkin Johnson, Mason and Madison Brommer; one sister Debbie Buttrum and husband Rick of Edmond; cousins, Stan Crites of Claremore, Oklahoma, Terry and Molly Pufhal of Edmond; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Judy and Jesse Johnson and cousin Elyse Crites.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Quinlan United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
