ALAN STOUT

January 20, 1923 - December 19, 2017

J. Alan Stout, 94 year old Mooreland resident, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017 in Woodward. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 22, 2017 at the St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Mooreland with Reverend Joe Arledge officiating. J. Alan Stout was born on January 20, 1923 on a farm north of Mooreland to Thomas P. Stout and Orilla Jeannette (Stoaks) Stout. J. Alan grew up on the family farm north of Mooreland. He attended Freedom public schools and attended three years of college at Oklahoma A&M.

He married the love of his life, Josephine Kammerlocher on November 23, 1948 in Bernalillo, New Mexico. They made their residence on the family farm near Mooreland. To this union, they were blessed with four children, Georgie, Patrick, Michael, and Amy Jo.

He had several careers during his lifetime. He worked as mail carrier for the Santa Fe Railroad, taking mail from Mooreland to Waynoka. He worked as a field agent for the Oklahoma Tax Commission. He also worked as a rural mail carrier for the United States Postal Service.

J. Alan loved reading western novels, working in his garden, and trying to solve word puzzles.

He is survived by his wife Josephine Stout of the home; two sons: Patrick Stout and Michael Stout; two daughters: Georgie Evans, Amy Jo Leisure and husband Dave; one brother: Louis Stout; one sister, Ramona Dauphin and husband Don; he is also survived by three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; numerous relatives and friends. His grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were the joy of his life.

J. Alan was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Orilla, two brothers, Ronnie and Wilbur, and one sister Phyllis Crissup.
