Funeral: 2:00 PM Friday, September 23rd, 2016 First United Methodist Church of Mooreland

Interment: Friday, September 23rd, 2016 Mooreland Cemetery Marvin Griffin, 61 year old Woodward area resident, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 at the First United Methodist Church of Mooreland. Interment will follow in the Mooreland Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the United States Air Force.

Marvin Eugene Griffin was born on April 20, 1955 in Wichita, Kansas to Harold and Ravone (Soupene) Griffin. Marvin grew up in Mooreland and attended Mooreland schools, graduating from Mooreland High School. He later attended and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University. Marvin was inducted into the United States Air Force in 1973. He served his country in the United States Air Force as an Aircraft Mechanic and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant in 1976.

He worked for Beaver Express, Allied Custom Gypsum, and the Woodward County Landfill. Marvin was a member of the United Methodist Church and was very involved in the church choir. He loved watching football, going to church, but most of all Marvin loved being with his family, especially his grandson. Marvin lived and breathed for his kids and grandkids.

He is survived by two daughters, Anni Griffin Stolzy and husband Jeff; Kayti Griffin; one brother Larry Griffin; one sister Sharon Griffin Harris; one grandson, John Emmery Stolzy; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Ravone Soupene Griffin.

Marvin was devoted to his faith, his daughters, his son-in-law, and his grandson, John. John was Marvin’s pride and joy. Marvin enjoyed spending time with family and friends, laughing and writing in his journal.

Memorials may be made to the Mooreland Food Pantry with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
