Tolbert R. Biggers

Tolbert, 93, died naturally at his home surrounded by his beloved family. Tolbert was born July 24, 1919 at home in Quinlan, Oklahoma. He graduated from Quinlan High School. In 1940, Tolbert graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.S. degree. Tolbert served in the U. S. Army in the Amphibian Tank Corp during World War II. After the War he was Manager of Soil Conservation District for the U. S. Agriculture Department in the Oklahoma Panhandle area. Later, in the 1950's, he was the Assistant Administrator of the Community Hospital in Mooreland, Oklahoma. Tolbert worked for the Mid-Continent Life Insurance Company of Oklahoma City, for 35 years and retired as Vice-President and Superintendent of Agencies in 1985.

Tolbert was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ona (Roedell) Biggers who died July 3, 2012. Tolbert and Ona were married 71 years. He was the son of Tolbert Biggers Sr. and Lottie Louise (Layne) Biggers, who both preceded him in death. Also preceding Tolbert in death were his brothers Gerald L. Biggers and Floyd W. Million. Tolbert and Ona are survived by their four sons, Jerry (Bunny) Biggers, James (Cathy) Biggers, Steve (Kim) Biggers, and Robert Biggers. Tolbert is also survived by his 8 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

Tolbert and Ona were graced with long and wonderful and lives together, and provided many cherished memories and touched the hearts of family and friends. The family thanks caregiver Vanessa and Mercy Hospice nurse Dolores, who both provided the end-of-life care for both Tolbert and Ona. Memorial contributions may be made be to Mercy Health Center Foundation with a designation to Mercy Hospice.

A memorial service for will be held at 10:00 am on Monday September 24 in the Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper Chapel. Tolbert's cremated remains will be buried at the cemetery in Mooreland, Oklahoma at 4:00 pm, also on Monday September 24.

Ona Bessie Biggers

Ona B. Roedell was born in Mooreland, Oklahoma to Addie and Frank Roedell of Quinlan, Oklahoma. Ona died as she wished at home with her loving husband Tolbert and family at her side.

She was preceded in death by Addie and Frank Roedell, her sisters Ollie Walls and Orpha George, and a granddaughter Jaime Biggers. Ona attended school in Quinlan and later at Central State College.

She married Tolbert R. Biggers in 1941 in Enid, Oklahoma. Ona and Tolbert were married 71 years. They had four sons: Jerry (Bunny), Jim (Cathy), Steve (Kim), and Robert.

Tolbert and Ona traveled extensively in Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean. Ona was a member of PACERS, which made a difference in her life.

She leaves her husband, Tolbert, her four children, her 8 grandchildren, and her 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a sister Opal Chenoweth and a brother Joe (Mary Lou) Roedell. Services will private for the family, however, all are welcome for a reception in Ona's honor Friday, July 6th from 4 to 6 p.m at Tolbert and Ona's home, 2624 NW 112th, Oklahoma City 73120. A private family service will be held later at the cemetery in Mooreland, Oklahoma. The family thanks Ona's caregivers, Vanessa, Glenna, and Dolores and Mercy Hospice.
