Dr. James "Jim" Gilbert Young

May 16, 1948 ~ September 24, 2019

Dr. James Gilbert Young, son of James W. and Marilyn N. (Gilbert) Young, was born at Woodward, OK on May 16, 1948. He passed from this life at the age of 71 years on September 24, 2019. He attended Woodward High School and continued his education at Oklahoma State University obtaining his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology. In July of 1970, he entered the United States Air Force and a portion of his military service was spent in Tainan, Taiwan and Germany at Ramstein Air Force base before he was honorably discharged in July of 1974. From the age of 12 Jim???s professional goal was to become a dentist. He achieved his goal by attending the College of Dentistry at the University of Oklahoma and establishing his dental practice in Woodward, Dr. Young provided dental services to local patrons and to local area correctional facilities.

On May 5, 1979 at Broken Arrow, Jim was united in marriage to Talitha. Their home was blessed with a son, James Tristan and a daughter, Lauren Jacquelyn.

Jim was a member of the Woodward Presbyterian Church and was involved in the Woodward community. He was active in the foreign exchange program as a member of the Rotary and served as president. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and the Elks Lodge. Jim was an Eagle Scout and the scouting organization was a special interest. He served as scout leader for his son???s troop and was honored with the Silver Beaver award for his efforts.

He is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Sue. His memory is cherished by his wife, Talitha of Woodward, his children, James and Shara of Oklahoma City, Lauren and Amy of Oklahoma City, his brother, Steven and Kathryn of Oklahoma City, grandchildren, Kadence Elise and James Dennis, and other relatives, business associates, and friends.
