Jannel Jo Copeland Velasquez

September 20, 1934 ~ October 16, 2018

Jannel Velasquez, 84 year old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, October 16, 2018 in Enid. Graveside funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 19, 2018 in Elmwood Cemetery with Reverend Ed Dowty officiating.

Jannel Jo (Copeland) Velasquez was born on September 20, 1934 in Cement, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of Syruis Linley and Freda Alton (Baker) Copeland. At a young age Jannel moved with her family to Pixley, California. She attended school in Pixley. Jannel worked as a nurse, operated a switch board, and also worked in a machine shop. Jannel was united in marriage to Paul Velasquez in Las Vegas, Nevada in 1972, they made their home in LaPuenta, California. She and Paul visited Woodward, Oklahoma and in 1977 made their home in Woodward where they have remained since that time.

Jannel enjoyed motorcycle rides, dancing, and watching television. She and Paul were members of the Ace of Clubs Cycle Club. Her greatest joy was her family, and she loved to spend time with them.

She was a member of the New Covenant Church.

Jannel is survived by her husband Paul of the home; son, Mark Best and wife Teri of Pixley, California; daughter, Colleen Miller and husband Gene of Enid; five grandchildren; one sister, Rheba Philpot of Meridian, Idaho; brothers, Bill Copeland and wife Iris of Wilmer, Alabama; Butch Copeland wife Kay of Searcy, Arkansas; nieces; nephews; other family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Jerry Flippin and one daughter, Marlinda Taylor.
