NILA WAYNNE TAYLOR

Nila Taylor, 83 year old Woodward resident, died Tuesday, May 8, 2018 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 12, 2018 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Nila Waynne (Clayton) Taylor was born on February 6, 1935 in Haskell, Oklahoma, oldest child to Nile Hargis and Vera Esther (Martin) Clayton. Nila grew up in Haskell and Ada, Oklahoma, graduating from Ada High School. She later attended nursing school in Woodward and received her L.P.N. degree. She was united in marriage to Jack Thomas Taylor on December 21, 1957 in Haskell, Oklahoma. They quickly made their first home in Shawnee before moving first to Woodward, then to Ulysses, Kansas and later, back to Woodward. Over the years, Nila held several job positions, most notably at Diamond Construction as Office Manager and as a Nurse for Western State Mental Hospital in Ft. Supply and at the Woodward Memorial Hospital.

She was a life long member of the Church of Christ. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. Nila enjoyed traveling to northern New Mexico. She was a very fine cook and loved providing great holiday meals to her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Jack. Nila is survived by children Tom Taylor (Jamie Taylor) of Woodward, Terry Taylor (Mitch Ruzzoli) of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Tyson Taylor, Trent Taylor (Michelle Rodriguez), both of Woodward, Trevor Taylor of Oklahoma City; great-grandson, Theodore Wayne Taylor; brother Tom Clayton (Christine Clayton)of Muskogee; sister Sue Beamer (Jerry Beamer) of Lago Vista, Texas; and other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
