Dorothy June Smith

June 1, 1941 ~ July 19, 2020

Dorthy Smith, 79 year old, Woodward resident died Sunday, July 19, 2020 in Oklahoma City. Funeral services will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 23, 2020. The family will receive friends on July 22, 2020 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Arrangements were made under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Dorthy June (Luinstra) Smith was born on June 1, 1941 in Laverne, Oklahoma to John and Mary (Otice) Luinstra. She grew up in Laverne and attended Laverne Schools until the eleventh grade. On October 13, 1962 she married the love of her life, Earl L. Smith, in Buffalo, Oklahoma. To this union three boys were born Allen, Mike, and Phillip.

Dorthy was a homemaker but also worked many jobs throughout her life. She was a waitress for a time and worked at the Wayfarer Inn, the Fargo School cafeteria, and lastly worked in the kitchen at Western State Hospital before retiring. Dorthy enjoyed playing cards and dancing at the senior citizen center. She also loved keeping up with her family on Facebook and attending family reunions.

She was an active member of the Cross Pointe Church in Mooreland. Dorthy was also a member of the Woodward Senior Center and enjoyed attending events there.

Dorthy is survived by sons, Allen Smith and wife Audie, Mike Smith and wife Penny, and Phillip Smith and wife LaDean; sister, Christina Aylett; grandchildren, Melissa, Shane, Terra, Michael, Dustin, Tyson, Danny, Dustin, and Delicia; and 20 great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Earl L. Smith; parents, John and Mary Luinstra; sister, Selia Crawford; grandson, Jason Smith; 19 brothers and sisters; brother in law, Bud Aylett; and special friend, Les Bouse.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Woodward Senior Citizen Center with the funeral home accepting contributions.
