Jackie Marvella Caruthers Parks

February 14, 1933 ~ February 3, 2022

Marvella Parks, 89 year old long time Woodward resident, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2022 in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 8, 2022 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Jeff Ralston officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.

Jackie Marvella (Caruthers) Parks was born on February 14, 1933 in Woodward, Oklahoma to William Jack and Stella Ruth (Crites) Caruthers. Marvella grew up in Woodward and graduated from Woodward High School in 1950. She was united in marriage to Lon Owen Parks in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their first home in Woodward and she has lived there since that time. They were blessed with four children: Toni, Danny, Keith, and Judy. Marvella stayed at home with her children and her and Lon built two apartment complexes, Parks Manor and Parkwood. They operated them for 20 years and after they sold the apartments Marvella retired.

She loved being with her family and friends and she loved spring and summer time. Marvella enjoyed spending time gardening and visiting with anybody and everybody.

She is survived by two daughters, Toni Howe and husband Wayne of Woodward, Judy Hammock and husband Donnie of Cushing; grandchildren: Jaci Styandridge, Chad Parks, Michael Howe and wife Fitri, Julie Jividen and husband Spencer; great-grandchildren: Wynter Wilson and husband Alex, Crystal Standridge and Justin Bonnell, Jozey Watkins, Xander Howe, Bryson, Ryder, Maysen, and Layla Jividen; great-great-grandchild, Sapphire Bonnell; other relatives and friends.

Marvella was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lon Parks, sons, Danny Parks and Keith Parks, sister, Helen Jackson, and grandson Travis Parks.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the New Horizon United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
