Charles E. “Chuck” McGinn, 79 year old Woodward resident, died Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at his home in Woodward. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, May 1, 2017 at the Elmwood Cemetery with the Reverend Gary Williams officiating.

Charles Edmond McGinn was born on September 15, 1937 in Lansing, Kansas to William and Rosa Lee (Glazner) McGinn. Chuck was raised by William and Rena Hicks of Taloga, Oklahoma until they passed away when Chuck was 10 years of age. He was then legally adopted by his biological mother, Rosa Lee and her husband, William McGinn. Chuck grew up in Woodward and San Diego, California before joining and serving in the United States Marine Corps.

He was united in marriage to Velda D. (Holt) Hagberg on May 14, 1971 at the First Presbyterian Church in Woodward, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward before moving to Amarillo, Texas, where they lived until moving back to Woodward in 1999. Chuck worked in various Law Enforcement positions in Nevada, Texas, and Oklahoma until his retirement.

Chuck was quite the storyteller, and always had a story to tell. He loved his family and enjoyed following his grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s activities in pictures and through phone calls.. He and Velda loved taking the grandkids to several National Parks when they were growing up and enjoyed keeping in touch with his relatives and friends and collecting coins and firearms.

He is survived by his wife Velda McGinn of the home in Woodward; one daughter Pam Curry and husband Jeff; two grandchildren, Keri Chelf and husband Chad; Matt Clem and wife Lea; four great-grandchildren, Colt Clark and wife Nina, Adyson Clark, Easton Chelf, Abigail Chelf; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by William and Rena Hicks, William and Rosa Lee McGinn, two sisters, Betty Hicks and Bonnie Reid and a step-son, Craig Hagberg.
