KAREN MARTIN

April 1, 1941 - November 28, 2017

Karen (Haines) Martin, 76 year old Woodward resident, passed away Tuesday, November 28, 2017 at her home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2017 in the Billings Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Billings Funeral Home on Thursday, November 30, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Karen Nichols (Haines) Martin was born on April 1, 1941 in Woodward, Oklahoma; she was the daughter of William Walter and Hazel Leona (Nichols) Haines. She grew up in Fargo and attended Fargo schools. Karen was united in marriage to Jim K. Martin on February 9, 1958 in Fargo, Oklahoma. They made their home in Woodward and have lived there since that time, except for the few years they lived in Enid.

She worked for the Fruit of the Loom Factory, the WR Grace Plant, and was a Realtor for Coldwell Banker which she enjoyed very much until her retirement.

Karen was a member of the Methodist Church. She was also a member of the PTA and the Red Hat Club.

She lived life to the fullest and she loved traveling with Jim and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She loved attending her children and grandchildren events, going to the casino, eating German food and drinking German beer, golfing with friends, bowling, softball and traveling.

She is survived by her husband of almost 60 years, Jim Martin of Woodward; two daughters: Lizann Martin Craig and husband David, Desiree` Martin Laubhan and husband Tom; seven grandchildren: Chase Craig, Maddie Craig Crossley, Austin Craig, Kennedy Laubhan, Brendon Laubhan, Kenton Laubhan, Tori Laubhan Laverty; 13 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Jim Haines and wife Rita and sister-in-law, Lois Haines; nephews, nieces, other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Sheila Meyer and Iris Haines and one brother Jack Haines.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, Cancer research with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
