WILBUR E. LONG

A graveside service for Wilbur E. Long, 80, formerly of Woodward, will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Elmwood Cemetery. Jarel Hansen will officiate. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home, Woodward.

He was born Sept. 14, 1924, in Sharon to Emmet and Violet Lilly Rose Boxford Long and died Tuesday, July 5, 2005, in Garland, Texas.

He was raised on a farm in Sharon. He attended Sharon schools, graduating from Sharon High School in 1942. He served in the Army from 1944 to 1946, with overseas duty in Italy.

He married Lena Phyllis Croisant June 8, 1950, in Woodward, where they made their home. He worked for International Paper, Long-Bell Division in Woodward for 37 years, retiring in 1985 as an assistant manager. In 2005, they moved to Garland. He was a member of American Legion, helped to build Fuller Park and volunteered his time to the Woodward Travelers baseball team.

Surviving are his wife, Lena, of Garland; one son, Chris Long of Capron; two daughters, Phyllis L. Parker and Char Astler, both of Garland; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter and two sisters.
