On Tuesday, September 8th, 2020, Karen Sue (Griffith) Long passed away at Alliance Health Woodward at the age of 67, following a lengthy illness. Graveside services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 2:00pm at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward, OK.

Karen was born in Woodward OK on September 27, 1952 to Eugene (Jiggs) and Juanita (Arrington) Griffith. Karen attended school in Mooreland and Freedom, graduating from Freedom in 1970. She was an outdoor girl and loved rodeo, especially barrel racing. In 1970, Karen was rodeo Queen at Northwestern State College in Alva. She worked at Safeway and Homeland in Woodward and Alva for several years. Karen loved supporting the Alva Goldbugs when her boys played sports in high school, and you could see the thrill she got when she blasted her truck horn to tell them they'd done great.

Karen attended South Persimmon Baptist Church and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. She enjoyed the fellowship of her Christian family and missed it greatly after her stroke in 2004.

Karen is survived by her sons, Monty Long of Alva, Travis Long & wife Jeannie of Waynoka; her grandkids, Courtney Pierce & husband Garrett of Perry, OK, Sadie Long of Vici, OK, Brock Long, Brody Long, & Brack Long all of Waynoka, OK; her siblings Hugh Griffith & wife Colleen of Chandler, OK, Sharon Clem & husband Mark of Sharon, OK, and Norma Lowther & husband Donnie of Mutual, OK, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Preceding Karen in death were her parents, sisters Linda Catlin & Lois Penrice, brother Terry Griffith, niece Amy Wheelwright, and nephew Mike Carter. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Stroke Association with Billings Funeral Home in Woodward accepting contributions.
