Sherman Loyd, 74 year old former Woodward area resident, died Tuesday, November 25, 2014 in the Shamrock Nursing Home in Kingfisher. Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Elmwood Cemetery with the Reverend Ed Dowty officiating.

William Sherman Loyd was born on November 20, 1940 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Charlie Newt French and Minnie Mae (Matthews) Loyd. He was raised in Pauls Valley and other towns in eastern Oklahoma. Sherman did farm work until moving to Woodward in 1972 and he then worked in the oilfield. In 1976 he started driving a cement and rock truck for Leroy Smith of Leroy’s Ready Mix. He continued driving for them until his retirement in the late 1980's. Sherman was a member of the First Baptist Church. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing and hunting, but most of all he loved being with his family.

He is survived by three sons, Jimmy Loyd and wife Sallie, Royce Loyd and wife Jessica, William Loyd; two daughters, Alicia Rose Hubbard and husband James, Annette Loyd Wisdom and husband Glen; two brothers, Charlie Loyd and wife Mary, Dewayne Brim and wife Betty; five sisters, Charlene Pipins and husband Roger, Rita Aytes, Donna Hobbs and husband Steve, Linda Ramsey, Ellen Whittit and husband David; fourteen grandchildren, Kim Boldes, Laura Morton, Mikki Bishop, David Loyd, Jerrick Loyd, Tyler James Loyd, Sarah Loyd, Valerie Loyd, Landon Hubbard, Skye Hubbard, Jared Loyd, Jennica Loyd, Jayden Loyd, Trenton Loyd; seven great-grandchildren, Joshua Boldes, Mahala Boldes, Xander Bowersox, Nikolas Bowersox, Aden Loyd, Aarick Davis, Ella Loyd; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents,, Charlie and Minnie, two sisters, Wilda Nailon, Glenda, one brother, Melvin Loyd, and a great-grandson, Cody Lee Loyd

Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Carter wishes us to thank the neighbors and friends for the help generously extended to them during the sickness and burial of their son, John Marion Carter.

Funeral will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 29th, 2014. Interment will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery.
