AUBRY WAYNE GIBSON

Wayne Gibson, 71 year old Woodward resident, died Friday, April 11, 2014 at his home in Woodward. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Shannon Davis and Reverend John Gherling officiating. Interment will be in the Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Aubry Wayne Gibson was born on June 23, 1942 in Haywood, Oklahoma to Aubry Lee and Virginia Lee (Moore) Gibson. Wayne was raised in Haywood and moved to Garden City, Kansas when he was 15 years of age. He graduated from Garden City High School in 1960.

Wayne was united in marriage to Diana L. Rice on August 24, 1963 in Liberal, Kansas. They were blessed with seven children, Annette, Joey, Shawna, Tiffani, Tara, Chadrin and Danica. The family made their home in Garden City before moving to Woodward in 1975. Wayne worked for Pool Well Service where he was a Truck Supervisor, 3KB where he was named Truck Driver of the Year. Wayne was working for Troy Jones Equipment until his health declined and he had to retire.

Wayne enjoyed NASCAR racing, truck driving, swapping stories with his son-in-law, Jason, but most of all he loved being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved breakfast with his children and grandchildren and going to Branson with Diana.

He is survived by his wife Diana Gibson of Woodward; five daughters, Annette Gibson, Shawna Buxton, Tiffani Gibson, Tara Jensen, Danica Koch and husband Jason; two sons, Joey Gibson and wife Christy, Chadrin Gibson; sisters, Patsy DeGraffenried, Ruth Gibson, Sue Wiley; 15 grandchildren, Brandon, Casey, Teagan, Harmoni, Braxton, Kinnyon, Teighanne, Damon, Whitney, Sydney, Kylynn, Bree, Keiton, Payten, Jaydan; his mother-in-law, Vivian Gough; other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, one sister, father-in-law, Willie Gough, and a son-in-law, Steve Buxton.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
