Harold J. Brennon was born August 22, 1929 to Rosalee and Harry Brennon in Woodward, Oklahoma. The family moved to Clearlake in 1933. He attended school in a one room schoolhouse. As a young child Harold lived in a dugout that his father paid $1.50 a month in rent for, before they bought a house in Clearlake. Harold would watch road work being done with horse drawn equipment and grader blade heated in a forge; while his father worked as a mechanic and local blacksmith receiving only 25 cents for sharpening lister shears, he talked about times starting to change and said “ I don’t have to turn a forge anymore”.

He attended the first three years of high school in Laverne, prior to attending his senior year in Beaver. In 1949 he married Wanda Adams. Out of this union was born four children with the youngest being a set of twins; Nancy and Stephen. In 1951 he joined the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1955. In his tour of duty during the Korean Conflict he visited many foreign countries. While there in service he made 4 ratings. After four years he discharged as a 2nd Class Gunnersmate.

After being discharged Harold worked in the oilfield and moved around working for several different drilling companies. He moved back to Woodward in 1957. He was badly injured while tool pushing for Sabine Oil Company. He continued his life of raising and racing horses which he enjoyed competing at various race tracks all over the country. He always said, “you could start giving a horse a rub down and soon all your troubles would be gone”.

Harold always enjoyed his family and grandchildren. He lost Wanda in 2004. In 2006 he married LulaMae Carter. They resided together in Woodward until his death. In Harold’s later years he loved to play pool with other seniors, going to church, and visiting with family and friends.

He is survived by his wife LulaMae Brennon of the home; daughters, Kathy Freerkson of Oklahoma City; Nancy Studdard of Woodward; Robin Storey and husband Robert of Kingfisher; granddaughters, Tina McVeigh of Oklahoma City; Ashley and Savannah Maggard of Kingfisher; grandsons, Jesse Roark of Albuquerque, NM; Leroy and Shawn Freerkson of Woodward; Steve Maggard of Kingfisher; Shawn Maggard and wife Jami of Kingfisher; great-granddaughters, Tessa Saunders and husband Jake; Carol Lawrence all of Oklahoma City; Emma Maggard of Kingfisher; great-grandsons, Aiden, Kaiden, Rex, and Jaxson Maggard of Kingfisher; several other great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and step-children; sister, Lena Mae Sistrunk and husband Ralph of Wellington, KS; brothers, Delbert Brennon and Williard Brennon both of Beaver.
