Woodward, Okla. — Malinda Ann Bowman, 35, arrived home into the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ Tuesday, October 27, 2009, in Tulsa, OK. Her faithfulness during her battle with cancer was an inspiration to many people. She touched hearts across the Nation throughout her journey. She made friends everywhere she went. Family visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Strode Funeral Home. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 31, 2009, at Lost Creek United Methodist Church in Perkins with The Reverend Max Rudd officiating. Interment will be 4:30 p.m. Saturday, at Elmwood Cemetery in Woodward, OK. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She was born September 19, 1974 in Stillwater, OK to Mervin Leon Compton and Rocky Rae (Thorne) Compton. She married Greg Bowman on June 12, 1999 at Mehan Union Church .

She graduated from Mooreland High School in 1992 and OSU in 1997, with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science and Ag Communications. She was a member of Lost Creek United Methodist Church and was a member of the Farm Bureau’s Young Farmers and Ranchers Association. She also achieved State and American FFA degrees in Production Agriculture and was a gifted artist.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Gordon and Alice Compton; and her maternal grandfather, Carl Thorne.

She is survived by her parents of Woodward, OK; her husband of the home; one daughter, Rayanne Elizabeth, 8; and one son, Cooper, 15; maternal grandmother, Hazel J. Thorne of Sunset House, Alberta, Canada; one uncle, Dusty Thorne of Sunset House, Alberta, Canada; two aunts, Marlene Crossland and Belva Templeton and her husband, Darrel; cousins, Robyn Templeton, Heather and husband, Max Clark; Dennis Crossland and wife, Heather; Sidney and Jake Crossland; one brother, Levi Compton and wife, Kara of Eastland, Texas; father-in-law, Don and his wife, Vernetta Bowman of Chelsea, OK; mother-in-law Saundra and her husband, Charley Neely of Stillwater; maternal great-grandmother, Verna Moffitt of Stillwater, OK; and many other family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to her children’s education fund c/o Strode Funeral Home, P.O. Box 487, Stillwater, OK 74076.
