Interment will follow in Elmwood Cemetery with the Billings Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

Chester Galend "Jack" Black was born on August 23, 1924 to Floyd Leo and Rosa Bell (Buss) Black in Hugoton, Kansas. Jack grew up in the Buffalo and Doby springs communities. He served in the United States Army from February 18, 1943 to January 12, 1946. Jack was united in marriage to Dolores Lou Richardson on February 22, 1947. To this union one daughter Gwenda Kay (Black) Lemaster was born. The marriage resulted in a great bond with Dolores' parents Utah and Lena Richardson and Jack as well as with her siblings.

In the early years Jack was employed at the Buffalo Creamery and later drove a propane delivery truck as well as a semi grain truck. In 1955, he began working in the oilfield drilling industry and continued until his retirement in 1982. He spent his adult life working to care for his family. (A man worthy of his hire) Jack was a man of commitment and ambition. He was a multi-talented man and could repair anything. He had a natural gift for mechanics and a vast knowledge of automobiles.

He spent his retirement years doing what he had always done, fixing things for his family. Jack had a unique sense of humor and a great love for his wife and family. He demonstrated that love through deeds and going the extra mile.

Jack is survived by his wife Dolores of the home, daughter, Kay Lemaster and husband Jim of Woodward; grandchildren, Chad Lake and wife Teresa of Ft. Calhoun, Nebraska; Carey Welden and husband Shawn of Fayetteville, Arkansas; Kim Neal of Canadian, Texas; Jimmy Lemaster; great-grandchildren, Brayden and Riley Lake, Casey and Lundyn Welden, Heather Lemaster, Juanita, Kellie, and Jasmine Neal; sisters-in-law; Pauline Moore of Warner Robins, Georgia; Velma Matthews of Pampa, Texas; Thelma Clark of Kansas City, Kansas; Dorothy Cotter of Buffalo; brother-in-law, James Richardson and wife Berdena of Pampa, Texas; other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dolores' parents, two brothers Laif and Preston, grandson Casey Wayne Lake, one sister-in-law Eleanor Dean, and one brother-in-law Reo Dean Richardson.
