MARGARET JANE "TONY" BILLINGS

Funeral: 10:00 AM Tuesday, October 13th, 2015 - First United Methodist Church of Woodward

Funeral service for Margaret Jane “Tony” (Lawrence) Billings, 93, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 13, 2015 in the First United Methodist Church with the Reverend Shannon Davis officiating. Private family burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home. Margaret Jane “Tony” died October 8, 2015 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Margaret was born to Frank and Margaret (Kelly) Lawrence in Belfast, Northern Ireland, where she lived until the end of World War II. She met her future husband, Bryan Billings, in Belfast in September 1942 while he was serving in the United States Army. Bryan spent the rest of the war in North Africa and Italy and returned to the United States in 1945 where Tony joined him in Oklahoma City. They were married May 28, 1945. After Bryan was honorably discharged from the Army in October 1946, they moved to Woodward, Oklahoma, and remained residents until their deaths. To this union, three children were born, Colleen Patricia, Maureen Gayle and Bryan Lawrence.

She is survived by Colleen Grotsky and husband Ernest “Skip” of Jamestown, North Carolina, Maureen Billings of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Bryan L. Billings and wife Barbara, of Woodward, four grandsons, Richard Kough and wife Amy of Prior Lake, Minnesota, Matt Kough and wife Sonia of Alexandria, Virginia, Dr. Bryan Billings of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and Wayne Billings and wife Amy of Moore, Oklahoma, four great-grandchildren, Michael, Dillon, Riley and Alma Kough, brother Eric Lawrence and wife Jean of Belfast, Northern Ireland, and several nephews, nieces and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bryan, her parents and her brothers, Frank Lawrence and Lewis Lawrence.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church Building Fund or the charity of your choice with the funeral home accepting the contributions on behalf of the family.
