The funeral for Julia J. "Tootsie" Bershaw Bender, 68, of Woodward, will be 10 a.m. Thursday at First Christian Church, Woodward. Dr. Kipp Wolfe will officiate. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Arrange-ments are by Billings Funeral Home.

She was born March 24, 1938, in Huntington Beach, Calif., to George and Julia Bershaw and died Sunday, July 16, 2006, at Woodward Regional Hospital.

She was raised in Huntington Beach, graduating from Huntington Beach High School in 1956.

She married Ken Martin and moved to Woodward in 1964 to operate an oil field business. He died in July 1965.

She married Bob Bender June 30, 1967. They made their home in Woodward. She was a member of First Christian Church, Woodward. She did bookkeeping and helped run an office supply business until 2005.

Surviving are her husband, Bob of the home; her sons, Kenneth Gene Bender and Richard Wayne Bender; daughter, Connie Dale Meredith; a sister, Georgia Witham; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Memorials may be made through the funeral home to Lions Eye Bank or charity of donor's choice.
