Whitehorse Cemetery


The funeral for Darold Dean Morland, 82, of Alva, will be 2:30 p.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, Alva. The Rev. Judy Pistole will officiate. Burial will be in Whitehorse Cemetery. Arrangements are by Wharton Funeral Chapel, Woodward.

He was born June 19, 1924, in Whitehorse, to Roscoe Rex and Mina Jean Showalter Morland and died Monday, April 2, 2007, at Alva Share Medical Center.

He attended Pleasant Hill rural grade school and Farry High School.

He married Dollie Lahoma Case Feb. 2, 1943. They made their home in Alva, where he worked for Brunsteter Motors. She died Sept. 30, 1955.

He married Billie Joyce Kern April 4, 1956, in Cherokee. They made their home in Alva. She died July 10, 1995.

He married Bettye Allen May 24, 1997, in Alva, where they made their home. He was a member of Alva First Presbyterian Church and National Rifleman Association. He owned and operated Morland Motors for 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, Bettye; two daughters, Joyce Darlene Sims of Pampa, Texas, and Deborah Sue Morland of Broken Arrow; one son, Ronnie Morland; two stepchildren, Linda Stong of Enid and Deliena Mercer of Yukon; two brothers, Alfred Morland of Alva and Bob Morland of Laverne; five grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a grandson.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, cancer division.
